Rob9-16

Rob9-16 is an educational project dedicated to promoting science, robotics and engineering among children and young people aged between 9 and 16.

Created in the 2014/2015 academic year, the project has established itself as a benchmark in non-formal technological education, providing practical, structured and inspiring experiences, guided by students from the Instituto Superior Técnico.

Rob9-16 develops skills in the areas of electronics, programming, engineering, 3D modelling and printing, intelligent systems and automation, through a ‘learning by doing’ approach.

The activities are planned so that all participants can understand and apply the fundamental concepts, regardless of their previous experience, while maintaining technical and scientific rigour.

Project Structure

Rob9-16 is currently organised into three complementary formats:

Project X Workshops

Intensive programmes held during school breaks (Easter, Summer and Christmas), structured as technological missions.
Each edition culminates in the construction of a functional project, promoting knowledge integration and problem solving.

Zone X – Science Club

An ongoing programme organised by term, where participants progressively develop scientific and technological skills.
Each term corresponds to a themed mission that culminates in a final presentation.

Topper X and Connection X Workshops

Specific technological experiences, including birthday parties with 3D modelling and printing and intergenerational workshops for parents and children, promoting creativity and knowledge sharing.
