Técnico – Oeiras Campus organizes and coordinates a variety of outreach and awareness-raising initiatives targeting middle and high school students, with the goal of showcasing the range of degree programs offered at Técnico and their corresponding career paths. These initiatives aim to provide young students with a clear and comprehensive view of the educational options and professional opportunities available in higher education.

Throughout the year, several activities are held to bring younger students closer to the reality of university life, giving them a practical glimpse of the academic environment that awaits them. The goal is to ease the transition into higher education and raise awareness about social responsibility, both within and beyond the university setting.

Técnico – Oeiras Campus Open Day

The Open Day at Técnico – Oeiras Campus is an annual event that invites the community to get to know the campus, its scientific activities and its academic environment up close. On this day, the Técnico Oeiras Campus opens its doors to the public, offering a unique opportunity to visit laboratories, take part in science outreach activities and interact with researchers, lecturers, students and academic groups.

Throughout the event, visitors can explore research projects, watch scientific demonstrations, take part in workshops and learn about Técnico’s educational programmes, all within a dynamic and accessible environment. The Open Day aims to promote engagement with science, engineering and technology, bringing the campus closer to society and sparking an interest in STEM subjects among people of all ages.

This event is part of the strategy to open up to the community and promote scientific culture, reinforcing the role of the Oeiras Campus as a centre of excellence for innovation, research and education.

Engenharia para Todos (EpT)

The Engineering for All (EpT) project addresses the need to bring engineering and science closer to society, promoting technological and scientific literacy in an accessible and inclusive way.

Developed by the Instituto Superior Técnico and INESC-ID in partnership with the Municipality of Oeiras, EpT is based on four pillars:

GIRLSTEAM – International Girls in ICT Day

GIRLSTEAM is an initiative that celebrates International Girls in ICT Day, and aims to promote the participation of young women in the fields of science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics (STEAM). The aim is to inspire and encourage girls to pursue careers in these fields, exploring their potential to create, innovate and lead.

This event includes activities such as workshops, talks, hands-on experiences and other interactive activities, providing a stimulating environment that fosters girls’ learning and development in scientific and technological fields.

Visits to Técnico – Oeiras Campus

Técnico’s Oeiras Campus offers school visits to the campus, allowing students to see the university’s facilities and how it operates at first hand.

To request a campus visit, please send an email to ncep-outreach@tecnico.ulisboa.pt with the following information:

• Name and contact details of the person organising the visit;
• Preferred date and time (if possible, please suggest two alternatives);
• Area(s) of interest (e.g. Computer Science and IT, Electronics, Telecommunications and IT, Industrial Management);
• Number of participants.

Once the email has been sent, the team at the Communication, Events and Partnerships Office (NCEP) will contact you to confirm the details and schedule the visit.
