Lecture: Internet Security, DNS and DNSSEC

On June 1st, from 9:30 a.m at A3, will take place a lecture with the theme: Internet Security, DNS and DNSSEC, within the scope of the GSR couse of LETI.

The speaker, Eng. Sara Monteiro, from the DNS.PT Association, has a Master in Computer Engineering, with specialization in Architecture, Systems and Computer Networks from the Faculty of Science of Universidade de Lisboa. Since 2006 she has been a member of Board of the Infrastructures and Systems Division of the DNS.PT Association. She has been developing projects, providing technical support, being responsible for implementing and disseminating and providing training and awareness-raising activities in the scope of DNSSEC security extensions. The DNS.PT is responsible for the management, registration and maintenance of domains under the Top Level Domain (.TLD) .pt.

Here is a brief description of what will be covered in the lecture:

The main purpose of the session is to raise awareness of Internet security and known the DNSSEC technology (Domain Name System Security Extensions). In response to the security vulnerabilities of the Domain Name System (DNS), an essential service for the current functioning of the Internet, security extensions to DNS have appeared: the DNSSEC. DNSSEC is an international standard of security extensions that adds mechanisms to DNS technology for source validation and data integrity, ensuring a more secure name resolution system and reducing the risk of information manipulation. .pt has been providing DNSSEC since 2010 and continues to focus on promoting and supporting the Internet community in order to be able to provide security to as many .pt domains as possible. By implementing DNSSEC in domains, security in accessing Internet pages is enhanced, protecting online users and the entities responsible for the webpages.

This lecture is open to all students.
