Rob9-16 is a Robotics Club designed for children and teenagers aged 9 to 16 who show interest in engineering, programming, electronics, and telecommunications. The aim of this club is to provide a hands-on and engaging educational experience, where participants can explore and develop their skills in cutting-edge and emerging technologies.
The initiative began in the 2014/2015 academic year and has been a major success ever since. This success is reflected not only in the high number of participants but also in the positive and encouraging feedback from parents, who highlight the club’s impact on their children’s learning and personal development. The club takes place at Técnico – Oeiras Campus and is taught by students from the prestigious Instituto Superior Técnico.
The lessons are carefully designed to ensure that participants can understand and apply the concepts—even without any prior experience—while still covering the core fundamentals. This balanced approach allows each student to learn in a fun and effective way.
Rob9-16 activities are held during Técnico’s academic breaks, including:
- Easter Holidays
- Christmas Holidays
- Summer Holidays
During these periods, participants have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and skills in areas such as electronics, programming, 3D modeling and printing, and artificial intelligence. The activities are structured to offer a practical and enriching experience, encouraging students to explore the world of robotics and develop innovative solutions to real-world technological challenges.
