Técnico Taguspark campus welcomes new students in a week full of excitement

From September 5th to 8th, the Taguspark campus welcomed new students who are taking the first steps in their academic life.

Last Tuesday, the much-anticipated Welcome Week began once again. Several new students arrived on campus, filled with dreams, expectations, and goals for this new stage.

Duarte considers that ‘Técnico is one of the best universities in Portugal,’ and that motivated him to choose Técnico as the path to invest in his future!

Throughout the week, students from various undergraduate programs arrived: LEIC (Computer Science and Engineering), LEGI (Industrial Management Engineering), LEE (Electronic Engineering), and LETI (Telecommunications and Informatics Engineering). The mentors of the mentorship program were essential in guiding and assisting the new students throughout the week. From guided tours of the campus to coordination sessions with the coordinators of each course, to conversations with the Student Nuclei at the ‘Nuclei Fair,’ these were the main focus activities of the week.

‘I chose Técnico because it offers quality education, has a lot of prestige (…) and I feel that I will be prepared for the job market,’ said Lara, a new LEIC student.

On Friday, the 8th, the week concluded with the Welcome Session, where Professor Rogério Colaço, President of IST, and Professor Helena Galhardas, IST VP for Taguspark Management, welcomed the new students. The session also featured the presence of Professor Miguel Teixeira, Vice President of the Pedagogical Council, Leonor Matos, Student representative of the Pedagogical Council, Bernardo Santos, President of AEIST, and Maria Catarina Tavares Botelho, Winner of the Maria de Lourdes Pintassilgo Award, who shared their experiences at Técnico. On that day, students had the opportunity to watch a performance by TMIST – Tuna Mista do Instituto Superior Técnico, a performance by the ‘Banda no Átrio,’ a group formed by campus students for the occasion and organized by LOUNGE as part of Viver a Cultura@ Técnico Taguspark. They also participated in a Taekwondo workshop organized by APIST – Associação do Pessoal do Instituto Superior Técnico and enjoyed a barbecue organized by AEIST.
